This isn't normal.
This isn't right.
What's this feeling?
Flooding my chest, catching my breath.
No! It can't be!
I had closed it off...
Blocked myself from the pain.
But I can see you in my sleep.
Your hair the color of night,
Eyes like the bark of an oak.
And skin as smooth as black marble.
We're close friends, I know,
and all of your touches are casual.
But your hand clasped in mine...
All I can do is stare at our entwined fingers.
And when you have a bad day,
and you lean on my shoulder with your eyes full of tears,
I can only put my arm around you.
I can only comfort you as a friend.
I can't kiss you, I rein every touc
We lie together.
Under the stars.
My arms around your waist.
Your arms around my shoulders.
I close my eyes and lean into your chest,
And we murmur an idle conversation.
A silence falls.
A comfortable silence.
I can hear you breath.
I can hear your heartbeat in my own chest.
You run your fingers through my hair,
And your touch becomes a caress,
As it travels down my body.
We hold one another close.
I have never felt safer.
I would not be attacked, I could not be hurt.
You would protect me, love me,
Take care of me.
Heal me.
You would be the sand, holding back the waves.
The dam, holding back the river.
The sun, holding ba
Imagine a blossom so pure and fine,
Everyone was drawn to it.
A flower of passion and dreams.
A flower you could not have.
Try and try again, you cannot pick it.
You can touch it, taste it,
But you cannot have it.
You can watch others bask in its light,
Swim in its petals, drink its bittersweet nectar.
But you cannot do either.
If you try, you fail.
If you fail, you are hurt.
And every time you hurt, your longing greatens.
Welcome to that field of flowers.
That meadow of blossoms.
That Garden of Eden.
Welcome to joy and pain.
Your sweetest dream, your cruelest nightmare.
Love.
Cold, lost, alone.
Unable to feel what most felt.
I couldnt feel the passion,
The fire, the fear, the love.
Stuck in darkness, coldness,
Frozen in memories of pain and regret.
Life wasting away, no hope.
But a light, a sun, had come.
Spring sunlight that melted the ice,
Upon my heart.
I saw in you a kindred spirit,
A companion, a brother, perhaps more.
Unsure, confused, worried,
I was falling for what I know doesnt exist.
Love.
But why? Why here, why now?
I barely knew you a day.
But we slept together, heart to heart,
Breast to breast, cheek to cheek.
And for once, I felt safe.
Sheltered, warmed, comforted, lov
We were just friends.
Nothing more, nothing less.
I saw you, and felt you.
I knew you, I dreamed you.
Your eyes drew me in from the dark.
Welcome to the light they seemed to say.
And I felt love.
But I couldnt love you.
We were just friends.
Anothers heart was yours,
Anothers hand, anothers lips.
I longed for you, but I could not have you.
We slept together, saying
We were just friends.
I leaned against your chest,
You put your arms around me.
I touched you, the real you, your heart and soul.
But we were just friends.
We kissed once, just once.
My hand was often in yours.
Every night we

Healing of the Heart - Ch. 3
Squirrelflight sighed in frustration as she lay awake, waiting for Ashfur to come to the warrior's den. She wanted to have a word with him, before he slept off his feelings for her. It would be cruel to herself to do otherwise. But Ashfur wasn't coming back! Where was he at? The rustle of bracken at the entrance of the den answered her question. Ashfur was back.
He was purring softly to himself, and he smelled of Whitepaw. Odd...
Ashfur? Squirrelflight meowed quietly, opening her eyes and lifting her head. The scent of happiness that had been pulsing from him vanished like mist at dawn. His head whipped around to stare at her

Healing of the Heart - Ch. 2
Whitepaw fell into an easy step next to Ashfur. Every once and awhile, they shot looked at each other, and tried not to let the other catch them at it.
Get a load of me,
Get a load of you,
Walking down the street and I hardly know you.
Its just like we were meant to be.
Whitepaws eyes scanned the passing trees, before centering upwards, at the stars. When she sighed and let her gaze lower again, she noticed Ashfur staring at her. And, this time, he wasnt trying to hide it. She met his gaze, held it, and couldnt help but smile. With any other tom, she wouldve claws his fur off for so much as glancing at tha

Healing of the Heart - Ch. 1
Whitepaws eyes followed Ashfur, heavily limping after Leafpool, as the medicine cat led him to her den. The tom had been badly hurt by the badgers, and Whitewing blinked sympathetically. As she scanned the clearing, she knew that the Clan had a lot of work ahead. The camp needed to be re-built, prey needed to be caught, cats needed to be healed But that wasnt what worried Whitepaw the most. Anger, distress and jealousy was pouring off of Ashfur in waves, and Whitepaw let her gaze follow his. Not surprisingly, Whitepaws eyes landed on Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight. She was talking to him in low tones, and gently licke
He was once a kit,
Frolicking in the snow.
Pursuing every flake,
His amber eyes aglow.
Then an apprentice,
Brave and bold.
Learning the ways of his ancestors
And the Warrior Code.
Next came the warrior,
Clever and strong.
But his father came up,
And everything went wrong.
Now he stalks the shadows,
And plots his revenge.
Preparing to kill,
Preparing to avenge.
But perhaps tis not lost,
Perhaps he can find
That love, so true love,
Can tear kin intertwined.

For anyone who is curious why I don't like Edward.
I am not a fan of Twilight, but I try not to let biases stop me from analyzing characters. Despite the pathetically shallow portrayal of characters in Twilight, there has got to be depth in them and I was set out to find it.
I was more and more disturbed as I dug deeper into Edward's behavior. His actions repeatedly demonstrate a dangerous mentality of dependency and control. He is, in all way, shape and form, an abusive boyfriend.
The first thing any girl hears in a dating violence discussion is that jealousy is not love. Yet Edward is critically jealous of Jacob Black, one of Bella's fam
I'm currently working on an Ashfur fanfiction. I love Ashfur with any cat who could take care of him... who could heal him.
This story takes place the instant after Ashfur dies and progresses through his life as he tries to forgive himself and move on from what he did in his previous life. I want a cat that will help him do this. Tom, she-cat, I don't care. Any Clan, any time period, any anything. I'd prefer it to be with a warrior, but I can make do with an apprentice, too.
I'd like a vote on who to pair Ashfur with in this fanfiction. No suggestions from me, it's up to you guys. ^^
